Calia Italia furnishes new autism support space at Matera Hospital

11 March 2025

On March 10, 2025, a new space dedicated to the care of adults with autism was officially opened at the Madonna delle Grazie Hospital in Matera. The furnishing and layout of the area were made possible thanks to the contribution of Calia Italia, a brand deeply rooted in its homeland and committed to giving back through meaningful social initiatives. Known for its high-quality upholstered furniture, Calia Italia goes beyond production to actively support the community—whether through cultural projects, sporting events, fundraising, or partnerships with local institutions and organizations.

This initiative falls under Calia Cultura, the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting art, scientific research, and social engagement. Founded in 1990 by architect Saverio Calia, the project was created to promote not only economic growth in the region but also cultural and social development.
“Our mission has always been to make people feel good. We may not always succeed, but we never stop trying. And today we’re here, staying true to that mission,” said Saverio Calia, who runs the company together with his brother Giuseppe.

“This year marks six decades of our company’s journey,” continued Calia. “It’s important for us to underline our commitment to social responsibility and solidarity. We’re proud to have contributed to the creation of a vital new care space—part of a broader strategy by the Matera Local Health Authority to become a benchmark for healthcare in Southern Italy. Health should never be overlooked—and we’re here to do our part.”

The inauguration was attended by numerous guests, including Maurizio Friolo, General Director of the Matera Local Health Authority, and Cosimo Latronico, Regional Health Councillor, who joined Saverio Calia for the occasion.
