Calia Italia at the Matera Film Festival 2025: when comfort becomes part of the scene

19 novembre 2025

The sixth edition of the Matera Film Festival, held from November 2 to 16, 2025, once again reaffirmed the role of Matera—known as la città dei Sassi—as a vibrant crossroads for cinema, art, technology, and international creativity. During these days, Matera transformed into a dynamic cultural hub, animated by screenings, retrospectives, masterclasses, and conversations that brought together leading industry professionals and passionate audiences.

The festival’s opening event—organized in collaboration with Lucca Comics & Games—was dedicated to Yoshitaka Amano, a master of global illustration and recipient of the 2025 Giuliana D’Argento Award. His masterclass, moderated by Fabio Viola and Silvio Giordano, was followed by the restored screening of Mamoru Oshii’s cult classic Angel’s Egg and a retrospective of Amano’s most iconic works.

In this vibrant setting, Calia Italia took part as the festival’s official comfort supplier, furnishing the foyer and the stage of the CineTeatro Comunale Gerardo Guerrieri with a selection of its most iconic creations. These included the footstools U’Strozz, the distinctive Madame G, Giuggiola and Milla armchairs, rugs from the new collection by Obliqua Studio, and the Dragèes sofas.

Calia Cultura: A Lasting Commitment

This collaboration highlights Calia Italia’s enduring bond with its territory and its unwavering dedication to nurturing talent. Since 1990, through the Calia Cultura initiative, the company has supported projects that celebrate art and creativity, offering expertise, resources, and spaces to empower young people and strengthen the social and economic fabric of local communities.

Being part of the Matera Film Festival means reaffirming the value of a commitment that embraces community, envisions the future, and celebrates the beauty of shared projects. Once again this year, we are proud to have contributed to an event that projects Matera and Basilicata onto the global stage, showcasing the most authentic and innovative expressions of our territory.
